New York–If you want some fashion, head on over to FIT.
In addition to its rotating roster of special exhibitions, FIT also has a permanent collection encompassing more than 50,000 garments and accessories and 30,000 textiles dating from the 18th centure to present.
Currently, in The Fashion and Textile History Gallery, the museum is showing Fashion A-Z:
Part Two will commence May 23 and run through November 10.
Unlike many exhibitions at FIT, which are organized chronologically, these are arranged alphabetically—from Armani, Balenciaga, and Chanel all the way through the alphabet to Vivienne Westwood, Yeohlee, and Zoran.
The show focuses on modern and contemporary fashion and accessories from the collection; a nice departure from much of the historical shows often presented.
And if you can’t get to the show, you can always purchase the companion book published this Fall by TASCHEN.
